"A tsunami of images". Pictures done in hospital.
In the winter of 2015/16 I spent several months in hospital and used as much of the time as possible to create collages, drawings and watercolours, materials I could use in the small space available. Initially I had a sketchbook and some art magazines which provided much colourful material for the collages. Self-portraits were done looking in the mirror in the bathroom. Later on I was given a watercolour set by a charity working in the hospital to encourage blood donation (me being a recipient). The ability to make art gave my days focus and helped to maintain my morale. Importantly, it allowed me to experiment and explore new artistic approaches.
